Sacramento – Elk Grove Mayor Pat Hume today announced his support for Paul Hegyi for the 10th Assembly District.
"Paul is smart, effective, and committed to the 10th District," said Hume. "As a top staffer in the State Assembly, he knows his way around the capitol and has seen first-hand what is wrong in Sacramento – he will be effective on the first day as a legislator. We need his experience and know-how to help pull us out of the mess we are in.
Continued Hume, "The budget agreement reached this week reaches into the pockets of Elk Grove and other cities in order to pay for the bad judgment of our state leaders and that is not only unfair, but creates larger problems for local governments struggling with their own challenges. We need an advocate in the Assembly and I believe Paul will be that champion."
"Mayor Hume has been an outstanding leader in Elk Grove and I am proud to have earned his support. This week’s budget agreement will force cities like Elk Grove to cut basic services that residents of the 10th District rely on. When I get to the Assembly, I will not be party to a state government unwilling to keep its own house in order reaching into the pockets of local governments who have."
Hegyi, currently chief of staff to Assemblyman Van Tran, is running against Democrat Alyson Huber, who in her first-term voted for the largest tax increase in California history..
